De Lavoy has been specializing in the fabrication and distribution of gowns
and formal, legal attire for professionals and graduates for over twenty-five
years.Mr. Lionel Lavoie founded the company in 1980 after purchasing the business from M.A. Brodeur. Mr. Brodeur was a confectioner of gowns and tuxedos and decided to sell Mr. Lavoie his company. The Confection De Lavoy studio was then established in the heart of Old Montreal, just a few steps from the Palais de Justice (Montreal Court House).
De Lavoy is a family operated business. Mrs. Micheline Lavoie, wife of the late Mr. Lavoie has been associated with De Lavoy since its inception. Martine, Mr. Lavoie's daughter has also been working with De Lavoy since her father passed away in 1997 and has been President of the company since 2004.
